The word ‘work’ has many connotations. People have helped us physically - to chop, saw, dig, strim, sow, chip, weed, make paths, repair walls. There have also been minds at work - people have offered ideas and advice about what to plant, which plants encourage pollinators, when and where to plant, which trees to fell, when to fell, how to fell, how to create wetland, how best to train an adolescent Fell Pony to haul timber. These lists are not exhaustive, though the work certainly is exhausting! The combination of bodies at work and minds at work has proved invaluable.
