We are Clare Lindsay and John Halliday, a retired couple. Clare spent her childhood in what was then a small village in Warwickshire; John was brought up on a farm in County Durham. Clare taught in middle schools, worked as an upholsterer, then trained and practised as a psychotherapist for over twenty-five years. John worked mainly as a lawyer, and also had a period as a psychotherapist.
When we began working on Liddells we knew we enjoyed and had a care and concern for the environment, however we were complete beginners when it came to creating a nature reserve. We quickly came to understand farmers' wisdom: work as if we'll live forever knowing we might die tomorrow and nothing will ever be finished.
